Refiners finer

January 19, 2015

Father, whether I want to admit it or not, I have a lot of stuff in me that does not bring You glory. Life has left me scarred and battered in so many places. I have built up walls and defense mechanisms against hurt, rejection and heartache. These walls and defense mechanisms have kept me from being truthful, honest, upright and have positioned me to not represent You in the best way.

Father, I have allowed fear, anger, a bad attitude and low esteem, among other things, to be embedded in the core of who I am. Just like when a miner pulls raw metal out of the ground and has to refine it so that it can be used for its rightful purpose, I need You to refine me so that I can be used for the purposes You have planned for me.

I know that I will have to go through a refining fire to remove my impurities but, if I want to look like Christ, I must allow You to purify me of my sins so I can be used by You. I want to be a clean and useful vessel for You. Refine me! Purify me! Use me! In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Today

Jesus in the drivers seat

January 13, 2016

Father, as I begin to make plans and set goals for myself, my family and my professional life for this year, don’t let me forget that my plans must take a backseat to the plans You have for me. Nothing I plan is going to be better for me than what You have already ordained.

I know everything is not going to go the way I want it to go, but I am sure that everything will go the way You’ve ordained it to go if I allow You to lead me. Help me to mature to the point that when what You’ve ordained overrides my plans, I do not fret, complain or grumble. Instead of complaining I rest in the knowledge that You have my best interest at heart.

You planned my perfect path long ago, and You know what’s best for me. You will improve me until I fit into Your plan for me. Thank you, Lord, for caring enough about me that You planned for my greatness in the land of the living.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Today

I Thess 5 16

January 12, 2016

Father, as I take the time to look back over the last year, I realize I need to ask for Your forgiveness. Last year I didn’t focus on You. I didn’t focus on the goodness or the kindness You showed me every day.

I was focused on the things of this world – my financial shortfalls, the things I wanted that didn’t seem to come my way.  I focused on what I don’t have much more than I focused on the good You provided to me every day. For this, I am sorry and ask for Your forgiveness.

Lord, this year I commit to being more thankful. I will be thankful for Your love, Your goodness and Your provisions. I may not have everything I want, but You promised to supply my needs, not my greed. I may not have what I think someone else has, but I know You have my best interest at heart. I may not be able to accomplish everything I think I want to, but help me to accomplish everything You purpose me to do.

Lord, I commit to focusing on You, Your love and the mercy You show me and my family. I will purpose to be in a position of praising You for everything I have every day, and I will not complain as much this year as I did last year. I will allow Your grace and mercy to speak out of my life and into the world so that people can come to know You for themselves.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Stop and Go

January 11, 2016

Father God, this year I want to walk in Your greatness. I want You to manifest Your full power and authority over everything in my life. There are things in my life that want to hold me back from completing the assignments You purposed and planned for me; but I decree and declare that You are greater than any obstacle that may raise up against me or from within me.

Lord, I declare that You are greater than my heartaches, failures, depression, hurt feelings, pain of the past and my haters. You are greater than my anger, disappointments, doubt, shame and my shames. Yes Lord God! You surpass them all!

In 2016 I want You to manifest Your extensive power and authority over everything that would hold me back from fulfilling Your truth in my life.

I believe I walk in greatness and even greater is coming to me. Praise the name of the Lord Most High! I have expectations of greatness manifesting in my life this year. In Jesus name. Amen.

Sharing God’s Word: Motivating God’s People

January 5, 2016

I Samuel 16:12b (NIV)
Then the Lord said, ‘Rise and anoint him; he is the one.”’

Have you ever been placed in a position that no one thought you were good enough to hold? This is the place where David found himself when Samuel told Jesse, David’s father, to call David in from the field tending the sheep so he could be considered as a candidate for the position of the next King of Israel.

Seven of Jesse’s sons were presented to Samuel and all seven were rejected by God. Samuel asked “Are these all the sons you have?” and Jesse replied no, there’s still the youngest. Samuel, had to ask Jesse to send for David and, low and behold, he was the one God had chosen.

In verse 7 the Lord tells Samuel, “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Many times in our lives we may not look the part or have the education that someone else may have but when God has chosen us to fulfill His plan, nothing else matters. God doesn’t judge us the way the world judges us. God judges are heart, which means He judges our character, our intentions and our ethics.

During our journey to greater heights in Christ in 2016, we must keep in the forefront of our minds that we are the ones that God has chosen for our particular assignments. God didn’t ask anyone else if you or I were good enough, smart enough, pretty or handsome enough for our assignments. God wrote our assignments in our DNA and on our hearts before we were born.

Decided that in 2016 you will not allow what others say or do deter you from fulfilling your God given destiny of greatness. If God called you, you’re the one!

for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.”  Romans 11:29

Word for Today

Crown of thorns

Numbers 33:55-56 (NIV)

55 “‘But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live. 56 And then I will do to you what I plan to do to them.’”

I can’t believe we’re seven week away from a New Year! I’m already thinking about the things I want or need to change, fix, tweak or get rid of in 2016. I’m assessing what I said I wanted to do in 2015 verses what I actually did. I’m also assessing my relationships with friends and family members and I have to acknowledge some of them aren’t working.

Over the course of my life I have learned how to let go of some folks. I may have held onto them out of habit, comfort, my desire to change them or my desire not to change what’s not working. But, I have also had to learn that there’s a difference in helping someone and carrying someone.

Sometimes I have to be honest and say that they are dragging me down more than I’m lifting them up. They are burdening me down and I seem to be more worried about their stuff than they are. Ever been there?

Sometimes you gotta drink a big glass of realism, straight with no chaser, and admit you have to release some people. Releasing them doesn’t mean you’re better than them or that you’ve given up on them, it just means that God’s better suited to change them than you are.

People aren’t going to be happy with your decision but you’ve got to decide if you want to reap from God what they’ve sown. In verse 56 above God says, “’And then I will do to you what I plan to do to them.”’ That’s a no go for me! I want to reap the harvest from the seeds I’ve planted, no one else’s.

As we approach 2016 we need to remember there is only one relationship that we have that’s intended to last through out eternity and that’s our relationship with God through Christ. Ask God for discernment regarding relationships whose seasons are over and act accordingly.

Much love to you!

God’s Promises

The sacrifice of the savior

God’s Promises

October 31, 2015

There is no greater, nor seemingly more difficult promise God could have made to us than the promise of a risen Savior. Really?  Someone is going to come back from the dead and save us from our sins? Seems highly suspect right?!

Yet, there it is, right there in Matthew 28:6, this unlikely, seemingly impossible promise is fulfilled; “’He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”’

This one statement is the reason all of God’s promises have their “yes” and our “amen” in Jesus (II Corinthians 1:20). God fulfilled the most impossible, unlikely and improbably promise He had ever made through the resurrection of Jesus; our Savior forever.

As surely as God is faithful to His word, that’s how sure we should be about God fulfilling His promises to us. His promises of protection, provision, an abundant life and life everlasting all find their fulfillment in Jesus.

When we believe that God is able to do what He said and fulfill His promises to us, we simply say, “amen.”

October 29, 2015

Father, I pray for everyone reading, have read or will read this prayer. I pray that out of your abundance You will bless the out of the heavenly realm with manifested blessings in the earth, which will meet every need they have in their lives.

I pray that every promise from You, which has its “yes” and “amen” in Jesus, will be pour out on them until the blessings overflow from them to the people who know them.

I pray that no weapon formed against them shall prosper and every tongue that rises up against them will be shown to be in the wrong. For this is their vindication through Your Son, Jesus Christ, for Your children.

I pray they will experience every good and perfect gift that comes from above and that they experience them in abundance. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!

God is in the business of restoring lives

October 28, 2015

Father I feel like I have so much going on that I don’t have time to do anything!

I feel like I’m always busy but nothing in being accomplished. I feel like no matter how much I take off my to-do list, there is always 20 other things I don’t get done! It seems to never end and I’m exhausted, and frustrated by it all.

Sometimes I wish I could just run away were no one can find me and just sit still and quiet for a little while, just to get my wits about me.

Father, I need to run to You! I need to do like Jesus did and steal away by myself, and just sit and focus on You without other people around me trying to get my attention.

Lord, whether it is the early morning, late at night or during my lunch hour, help me to earmark time to be alone with You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Prayer For Today

Plug into the power of prayer

October 26, 2015

Father, Your word says that You sent Your son Jesus to give us life and that we would have life more abundantly through Him. Too often I find myself living a life of lack of the things that really matter. I find myself living a life that lacks peace of mind, joy, contentment and peace. I find myself complaining about what I don’t have, what I didn’t get and what I can’t do, rather than thinking about and being grateful for what You’ve given me, allowed me to obtain and Your favor that rest on my life. Forgive me for taking for granted all the great and wonderful things You’ve made available to me that I don’t take advantage of on a regular basis.

Father, I will not just live, I will thrive and prosper beyond the normal. Not thriving and prosper in just material things, but thriving and prosper in the things that will make me a better person; a better child to my parents, a better parent to my children, a better husband or wife to my spouse and a better child to You.

I will prosper by reading Your word, praying to You on a regular basis, obeying Your word and being diligent in doing the things I know are right.

I will live above the fray of mediocrity. I will live with my mind on things I can do to help the world be a better place and with my mind steadfast on You. I will not live beneath my spiritual blessings, which You have provided for me through Christ Jesus. I will live in the overflow and outpouring of Your love. I will not live just getting by but I will live standing on Your promises to me, Your child. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
