Prayer for Today

God is preparing you for greatness

February 3, 2016

Father, You have given me a heart to go after my destiny by using the gifts, talents and abilities You placed in me at the beginning of time. Now Lord, give me the plan for fulfilling my life purpose.

Lord, put good people around me as wise counsel so my plans will succeed. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me into all Your truths. Allow me to write the vision You’ve given me for my ministry/my business. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the help of others, I will see my vision come to fruition. Strengthen my heart so that I will not grow weary of doing good.

Help me to focus on my destiny not my past Lord so I can remain steadfast, immovable and not swayed by the storms of life. If I keep my eyes on You, I will remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty, who no foe can stand against.

This year I will be steadfast in pursuit of my destiny! I will not be defeated! This is my “Yes” year! In Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer for Today

Father God, I pray the part of the Lord’s Prayer that says, “Your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven” often without thinking about it, but today I am asking for Your will to be done in my life.

Father, You know what good, right is and perfect for me, because every good and perfect gift comes from You. You know exactly what I need and when I need it. You know how to show Your strength, power and righteousness throughout my life. Today I commit to submit to Your overarching authority in my life. I permit You to have Your perfect way in me.

Lord, when my flesh starts to scream because it is uncomfortable, comfort me by your Holy Spirit. I’ve been praying for ________________________________________ (Fill in whatever you’ve been praying for. Some examples: a closer walk with God, a healthier lifestyle, a mate, a change of heart in your children, a financial blessing, deliverance from past pains, etc.) I know the first step to getting my prayers answered is for Your will to be done in my life.

I have tried to achieve what I want my way and it hasn’t worked. I have tried to fulfill my call and my purpose the way I thought was best but all I’ve done is messed up and left pieces of my dreams shattered throughout my life. NO MORE! Now God, I will do things Your way.

I will not listen to unwise council. I will keep my eyes steadfast and fixed on You because You are the author, the perfecter and the finisher of my faith.

In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Prayer for Today

I Thess 5 16

January 12, 2016

Father, as I take the time to look back over the last year, I realize I need to ask for Your forgiveness. Last year I didn’t focus on You. I didn’t focus on the goodness or the kindness You showed me every day.

I was focused on the things of this world – my financial shortfalls, the things I wanted that didn’t seem to come my way.  I focused on what I don’t have much more than I focused on the good You provided to me every day. For this, I am sorry and ask for Your forgiveness.

Lord, this year I commit to being more thankful. I will be thankful for Your love, Your goodness and Your provisions. I may not have everything I want, but You promised to supply my needs, not my greed. I may not have what I think someone else has, but I know You have my best interest at heart. I may not be able to accomplish everything I think I want to, but help me to accomplish everything You purpose me to do.

Lord, I commit to focusing on You, Your love and the mercy You show me and my family. I will purpose to be in a position of praising You for everything I have every day, and I will not complain as much this year as I did last year. I will allow Your grace and mercy to speak out of my life and into the world so that people can come to know You for themselves.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Anchor Holds

October 7, 2015

“When Darkness veils his lovely face, I rest on his unchanging grace. In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.” – Edward Mote “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less”

This morning Lord I want to thank You for Your Son, my Savior, Jesus Christ, who is my Anchor in the midst of my storms, hardships, heartaches and difficult situations. He is my all and all.

Father, when I could be lost in the despair of the situation; the wars and rumors of wars that are always swirling around us, the mass murders that are taking place in our country because bureaucrats refuse to pass simply laws that will hold people accountable or the financial hardship so many people are going through right now, but Jesus holds me close in the midst of all the raging storms going on around me.

Lord I thank You for my Anchor, Who not only holds me close in the midst of the storm going on around me but, holds me close to Him when the storms of fear, doubt, unforgiveness, guilt, shame and discontent are raging in me. Jesus is the Anchor that holds me fast no matter what is going on in or around me. In Christ I am secure! I thank You and pray this prayer in Jesus name. Amen.

God is faithful

October 1, 2015

Father God, I often pray the part of the Lord’s Prayer that says, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” without thinking about what I’m really saying. Today I am asking for Your will to be done in my life.

You know how to show Your strength, power and righteousness through my life. Today I commit to submitting to Your overarching authority over my life and I permit You to have Your perfect way in me.

Father, if I think back, take a good look at my life and am honest with myself, I have no reason to complain. If I take the time to examine where You brought me from and what You’ve brought me through I see the good You have shown me over the course of my days far out weights the bad. Thank You!

Even in the bad times You were working to mature and groom me in an effort to prepare me to become the person You created me to be. Today Father, I will not complain about whatever comes my way. Instead of complaining I will thank You for Your goodness and Your mercy, which is new to me every morning.

I will take time to consider Your goodness toward me and I will speak of Your love for me all day long. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Hold On – Part II (Revised)

Ice age squirrel holding on

Joshua 1:5

“No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

God has told us that He will never leave us; He will always be with us. This is why we don’t have to seek after the things of the world system. We don’t have to love money, fortune or fame. We don’t have to give up our morals nor ethics in order to fit in with the world. We don’t have to go along to get along with everyone else because God, the Father of all things, has made us a promise; ‘I will never leave your; never will I forsake you.’

This means as children of God we can stand and fight just like the Israelites fought at Jericho; in an unorthodox non-world system method. The children of Israel marched around a fortified wall, singing and playing trumpets in order to bring down the wall of Jericho. Who does that? Those who trust in the Lord our God.

Our methods of warfare will be unorthodox by the world’s standards. Who shows love, kindness and compassion to people who are trying to take their jobs, their home or their car? Who still smiles and speaks to people who are rejecting you, mistreating you and saying all manner of evil against you? Those who trust in God because we know, God is with us!

Trusting in God will lead us to unorthodox methods of warfare because we know God has already promised us victory. “No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you…” These words weren’t just for Joshua, they are for us too!

We can hold on when it looks like all is lost because we have confidence that our God is not only with us, but He’s for us! We can be strong and courageous, unswerving and stout hearted because we know that no matter what happens God is standing beside us to care for us.

Even in the most desperate or difficult times we can keep our lives free from the love of worldly things  and be content with what God has given us because we know that God will provide for all our needs according to His riches in glory through His son, Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:19).

Proverbs 19:23 says it like this: “The fear (respect) of the Lord leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.” If we respect this truth and promise of God; that He is with us at all times, then we can rest untouched by trouble!

DO NOT GIVE UP NOW! God has been and will continue to be with you.  He sees what you’re going through and He’s right beside you to help you through it. This is not the time or place to give up!  Just keep your eyes fixed on Jesus because He is walking right in front of you; The Holy Spirit is leading, guiding and directing you down the correct path for you. Remember Gods’ hook, “Hold on, I’m here!”

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, ‘Never will I leave your; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”’ Hebrews13:5 – 6

Prayer for Today

April 24, 2015

Father God, as Your children climb out of the pit of the world system into the marvelous light of Your Son Jesus Christ, we need You to help us redefine success and failure.

Your children know what the world calls success; big homes, expensive cars and lots of money. Unfortunately, too often these “successes” come with relaxed morals and lacking ethics. We see it all the time on the news and even in some churches.

We have looked at others who have all the things the world calls success and tried to mimic them. That’s why so many of us find ourselves broken and ashamed of what we’ve done and what we have become. Father, forgive us!

Lord, help us to seek after Your definition of success. Help us to look more and more like Jesus every day. Help us to obey Your Word even when we can’t figure out what You’re doing and, help us to seek after and fulfill the destiny You have planned for each of us.

Father help us replace our fear of earthly failure with the peace of being successful in You. Step by step and day by day help us to climb out of our spiritual pits so we can come into the full light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is in the precious name of Jesus we pray and say Amen.

Prayer for Today

Sword Sharper than Two Edge Sword

April 14, 2015

Father, Your Word says I should seek Your counsel first, but seeking Your counsel takes so much time. Seeking Your counsel means I have to stop what I’m doing, read Your Word, think about what You’re conveying to me and then I have to internalize it. Lord seeking Your counsel takes effort and time.

The world system is constantly giving me its counsel without my asking for it. I don’t have to stop what I’m doing; I can just keep watching TV, listening to the radio or reading books that have nothing to do with my relationship with You and the world system keeps pouring its counsel into my ears. It may not be good counsel but they just keep it coming!

I’ve come to the realization that the world system does not have my best interest at heart. I need Your counsel and the input from other people who operate in Godly wisdom because I’m tired of making decisions that don’t give me what I want or worse, end up being bad decisions.

Lord God, I’m ready to make the effort to listen to Your counsel. I know that listening to You and those who operate in Your wisdom will propel me forward so I can make good decisions and become who You have purposed me to be from the beginning of time. Father God, help me! In Jesus name I pray and say, amen.

Prayer for Today

I pray that the prayers you’ve received and the scriptures you’veSacrifical lamb read throughout this Lenten Season have been a blessing to you and helped prepare you for the rest of your journey with Jesus Christ, the sacrificial Lamb of God.

April 3, 2015

Father, I began this Lenten Season as a journey to know You better. Some days I stayed the course, other days I strayed away allowing other things to distract me from my journey. No matter what, I learned that getting and maintaining a relationship with You through Jesus Christ is a lifelong journey. I will mess up along the way, but if I stay the course, I’m still on the right path.

Along the way to finding out more about You, I found out more about me. As much as I love you, I still fall short but You knew I wasn’t going to be perfect, that’s why You sent Your Son to be my ransom; to take all my sins and carry them to the cross.

As much as I want to do everything You want me to do, my faith is lacking in so many areas. That’s why You sent Jesus, as a man, to show me the importance of prayer and obedience. In His humanity Jesus didn’t want to go to the cross, but out of obedience to You, He went anyway.

I want to be bold and courageous in the things You have purposed for me to do but I allow the things of my past to interfere with my future. That’s why You sent Your Son to be the anointment for Your forgiveness for me, one time for all time. Now, I need to forgive myself the way You forgive me.

On this Good Friday I look at the cross that Jesus died on a little differently. It wasn’t something He did for everyone; it is something He did just for me. Thank you Jesus for dying in my place and becoming sin for me so I can have everlasting life through You. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
