Prayer for Today

I pray that the prayers you’ve received and the scriptures you’veSacrifical lamb read throughout this Lenten Season have been a blessing to you and helped prepare you for the rest of your journey with Jesus Christ, the sacrificial Lamb of God.

April 3, 2015

Father, I began this Lenten Season as a journey to know You better. Some days I stayed the course, other days I strayed away allowing other things to distract me from my journey. No matter what, I learned that getting and maintaining a relationship with You through Jesus Christ is a lifelong journey. I will mess up along the way, but if I stay the course, I’m still on the right path.

Along the way to finding out more about You, I found out more about me. As much as I love you, I still fall short but You knew I wasn’t going to be perfect, that’s why You sent Your Son to be my ransom; to take all my sins and carry them to the cross.

As much as I want to do everything You want me to do, my faith is lacking in so many areas. That’s why You sent Jesus, as a man, to show me the importance of prayer and obedience. In His humanity Jesus didn’t want to go to the cross, but out of obedience to You, He went anyway.

I want to be bold and courageous in the things You have purposed for me to do but I allow the things of my past to interfere with my future. That’s why You sent Your Son to be the anointment for Your forgiveness for me, one time for all time. Now, I need to forgive myself the way You forgive me.

On this Good Friday I look at the cross that Jesus died on a little differently. It wasn’t something He did for everyone; it is something He did just for me. Thank you Jesus for dying in my place and becoming sin for me so I can have everlasting life through You. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer for Today

enemies-friend-god-quoteLenten season challenge: Read the scriptures that are referenced at the bottom of each prayer every day during this Lenten season!

March 9, 2015

Father as I change and allow You to change me, I see some of my friends and family members falling away from me. Sometimes this reality makes me sad, angry and somewhat bitter. There are times I think about going back to my old ways but then I realize, that would put my friendship with You in jeopardy.

You are my friend that sticks closer to me than a sibling. You are my only friend who laid down His life for me. The very least I can do is obey You in response for all You’ve done for me. You are my friend because of Your great love for me, not because of anything I’ve ever done or anything I can do for You.

You care about our friendship because You created me in Your image. Your friendship is important to me because life can be hard and cruel. I need someone to whom I can turn and in whom I can put my trust.

Thank you Lord for Your friendship, Your love, Your compassion, Your grace and Your mercy to me. In Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer for Today

The sacrifice of the savior Lenten season challenge: Read the scriptures that are referenced at the bottom of each prayer every day during this Lenten season!

February 23, 2015

Father God, during Lenten season I am always concerned about what I’m going to give up so I can show You how sorry I am for the sins I’ve committed since the last Lenten season. I use this one thing as the scape goat for all my shortcomings and sins.

I use this season as a time for complaining about what I’m not doing or can’t do. I use this season as a time to compare my sacrifice to someone else’s. Never have I used this season to compare my sacrifice to the price You paid for my salvation by sacrificing Your son. Forgive me for trivializing what You’ve done for me.

Father during this Lenten season let me incorporate more of Your son’s character. Let me love more like Jesus. Let me forgive more like Jesus. Let me show compassion and grace to others like Jesus shows to me. Let me think of others more than myself, like Jesus did when He died on the cross for my sins. During this Lenten season, help I be more like Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer for Today

January 30, 2015

Oh Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth! When I would have fallen and never rose again, you were there to keep me safe. When I could have lost everything and been left destitute, you sustained me.

When my enemies wanted my demise, you lifted up a standard against them. There is no God like you! There is no one on earth nor in heaven that loves me as much as you. In light of all your great works in my life I want to stop and say “thank you”.

When I couldn’t see my way, you were my guide. Thank you.

When my business or my job was threatened you worked it out for my good. Thank you.

When my children were given the opportunity to stray, you kept them on the right path. Thank you.

For these and so many other blessings that you have bestowed on my life, I give you praise. Amen.

Prayer for Today

January 23, 2015

Father God, today I refuse to walk in fear or doubt. I will not lean to my own understanding but I will trust in you. Father, you created me in your image and in your likeness. I am perfected in you. I am able to accomplish everything you’ve planned for me.

I have been made righteous in you. My former ways have passed away and in you I have become a new creation. You have made me an ambassador to the lost, the least and the less than; to bring them to reconciliation to you through Jesus Christ your son.

Lord, sometimes I think I’m not good enough to fulfill your plan for me, so as I embark on my tasks as your ambassador, remind me that I am a part of your royal priest hood.  A part of your holy nation and you are the only one greater than me.

Thank you God for thinking enough of me to call me your child and to make me more than a conquer through your son Jesus Christ. Help me be an obedient and mature child of the Most High God. Help me to walk out the path you’ve carved out for me. In Jesus name. Amen

Let them Grown Up!

I am still amazed by parents who treat their grown children as if they are three or four. You can’t live your grown children’s lives for them. You must allow them to strict out on their own and live the life they were destined by God to live.

Ephesians 6:4 says, “Parents, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” If you have raised your children to the best of your ability there is nothing left for you to do to help them make it in the world. Raising our children to be our children and not our friends is paramount in child rearing. We love our children too much JUST to be their friends. We must show them the way, teach them right and wrong and not leave them to their own devices and through patterns without steering them in the right direction.

A note to all my friends who have grown children: You do not have to reap what they have sown! Stop putting yourself out because they have made a bad decision. Stop making excuses for their bad behavior and stop lowering your standards in order to accommodate them! THEY ARE GROWN! Let them stand or fall by their own actions!
