Overcoming Life’s Pressures: A Prayer for Self-Care

Lord God, too often, I let the cares of the world stop me from taking care of myself. I don’t exercise as much as I should because I spend too much time working or taking care of things that other people want me to do. I don’t drink enough water, but I give in to my body’s craving for something sweet. I don’t eat as well as I should because I want something fast and convenient.

It’s not that I don’t have the time; it’s that I don’t take the time to take care of myself because I allow the pressures of outside forces to run my life instead of taking control of my time.

Lord, forgive me. I know my body is Your temple. I know my body is the only vehicle You’ve given me to get through this life. Today, Lord, I ask for Your help to take control of my time. I want a balanced life so that outside forces do not drive me.

Father God, help me set the right priorities and say “no” to things that are genuinely not my responsibility. Please help me to help other people grow by not doing for them what they can do for themselves. Help me, Lord God, to see what you sent me to do versus what I just went to do. Free me from the bondage of too much stuff and liberate me from being overburdened. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Today

Father God, I pray the part of the Lord’s Prayer that says, “Your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven” often without thinking about it, but today I am asking for Your will to be done in my life.

Father, You know what good, right is and perfect for me, because every good and perfect gift comes from You. You know exactly what I need and when I need it. You know how to show Your strength, power and righteousness throughout my life. Today I commit to submit to Your overarching authority in my life. I permit You to have Your perfect way in me.

Lord, when my flesh starts to scream because it is uncomfortable, comfort me by your Holy Spirit. I’ve been praying for ________________________________________ (Fill in whatever you’ve been praying for. Some examples: a closer walk with God, a healthier lifestyle, a mate, a change of heart in your children, a financial blessing, deliverance from past pains, etc.) I know the first step to getting my prayers answered is for Your will to be done in my life.

I have tried to achieve what I want my way and it hasn’t worked. I have tried to fulfill my call and my purpose the way I thought was best but all I’ve done is messed up and left pieces of my dreams shattered throughout my life. NO MORE! Now God, I will do things Your way.

I will not listen to unwise council. I will keep my eyes steadfast and fixed on You because You are the author, the perfecter and the finisher of my faith.

In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Father, as I press to reach the greatness that You have deposited in me, I must remember that obedience to You is paramount in my quest to be all You created, planned and purposed me to be for Your glory. My obedience means more to You than any sacrifice I could make. (I Samuel 15:22)

I know You’re going to tell me to do some things, send me some down some paths that I don’t want to travel and allow me to go through some difficult and dark situations and circumstances. Father, in those times I need Your help maneuvering past my feelings so I can remain obedient to You because You require obedience. (Deuteronomy 5:33)

I may never know why You had me travel the paths where You led me but I still have to obey Your word in general (the Bible) and Your specific word to me. (Psalm 128:1) I know I will never achieve the greatness You have in store for me without my complete obedience to You. (Jeremiah 7:23)

Help me Father today and every day to submit to You. (Romans 6:19 and James 4:7) Help me not to hold anything back from You, but instead help me give You my everything and become Your love in the world as I become lost in You. (II John 1:6). In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Set back - come back

January 26, 2016

Father, as I press towards the mark of the higher calling in You (Philippians 13:12 – 14) and I seek after the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33), I find my inner voices reminding me of my past failures. Failed marriages, failed businesses, failed projects and failed relationships all come flooding back to me as I work to set plans to fulfill my God given purpose.

The feelings of disappointment that each failure caused begins to sweep over me like a storm driven wave. I end up thinking, “how can the God of all possibly use me to accomplish greater?” I find my steps slowing, my optimistic outlook weaning and my spiritual esteem faltering.

Then Lord, I consider the life of David. He was an adultery, a cold-hearted murderer and less than a stellar parent, yet You Father God, gave him the title of “a man after my own heart.” (Acts  13:22 – 23) Then I know there’s hope for me!

You Father God are not a respecter of person (Acts 10:34). If You allowed David to be the beginning of the greatest dynasty in history and showed him favor despite his failures, You will do the same for me if I do everything You want me to do.

So I press towards the greatness that has been deposited in me! In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Father God, speaking “greater is coming” but not acting like I believe that it’s true is a waste of time.

I know acting like I believe it means that I change my words and my actions. Father God, help me to change my action so, by the power that You have invested in me, I can bring about the greater that I keep saying is coming.

My actions must show that I’ve moved from doubt and fear to belief and faith. My actions should show that I’ve left past failure in the past and am moving forward to greater triumphant.

Father, if I really believe that greater is coming, I must set aside time to spend with You one-on-one because it is through You; Your word and Your spirit, that my faith will be built up to believe that greater is here, in me and even more greater works will I do.

Father, help me to set aside unnecessary stuff so I can get in Your face, which is the face of greater. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Grace Moving in GOD'sJanuary 21, 2016

This year Father, as I pursue my greatness by pursuing You and Your plan for my life, there will be times people will tell me “no” when I know the answer should be “yes”. There will be times and in certain situations where I will be rejected and turned away as if I’m not good enough but, during these times I will not fret or worry because I know You are head over everything in heaven and on earth (I Chronicles 29:11 – 12).

Nothing is out of Your control; therefore, if man gives me an answer of “no” or “wait” after You’ve told me “yes”, I will continue to seek Your face and operate in Your favor until You make the necessary changes in me or in the situation (Philippians 4:19).

Father, I know You are with me at all times. You make Your face to shine upon me and You are gracious to me (Numbers 6:24 – 27). The greater that You have placed in me is greater than any power of or in the world system (I John 4:4 – 6). This is why I choose to rest in Your word, believe Your truths and work by faith (II Corinthians 5:7 and James 1:6).

Father, this year I will move and operate in greater, knowing that greater is coming! In Jesus name I pray, amen.

I Thess 5 16

January 12, 2016

Father, as I take the time to look back over the last year, I realize I need to ask for Your forgiveness. Last year I didn’t focus on You. I didn’t focus on the goodness or the kindness You showed me every day.

I was focused on the things of this world – my financial shortfalls, the things I wanted that didn’t seem to come my way.  I focused on what I don’t have much more than I focused on the good You provided to me every day. For this, I am sorry and ask for Your forgiveness.

Lord, this year I commit to being more thankful. I will be thankful for Your love, Your goodness and Your provisions. I may not have everything I want, but You promised to supply my needs, not my greed. I may not have what I think someone else has, but I know You have my best interest at heart. I may not be able to accomplish everything I think I want to, but help me to accomplish everything You purpose me to do.

Lord, I commit to focusing on You, Your love and the mercy You show me and my family. I will purpose to be in a position of praising You for everything I have every day, and I will not complain as much this year as I did last year. I will allow Your grace and mercy to speak out of my life and into the world so that people can come to know You for themselves.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

God’s Promises

The sacrifice of the savior

God’s Promises

October 31, 2015

There is no greater, nor seemingly more difficult promise God could have made to us than the promise of a risen Savior. Really?  Someone is going to come back from the dead and save us from our sins? Seems highly suspect right?!

Yet, there it is, right there in Matthew 28:6, this unlikely, seemingly impossible promise is fulfilled; “’He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”’

This one statement is the reason all of God’s promises have their “yes” and our “amen” in Jesus (II Corinthians 1:20). God fulfilled the most impossible, unlikely and improbably promise He had ever made through the resurrection of Jesus; our Savior forever.

As surely as God is faithful to His word, that’s how sure we should be about God fulfilling His promises to us. His promises of protection, provision, an abundant life and life everlasting all find their fulfillment in Jesus.

When we believe that God is able to do what He said and fulfill His promises to us, we simply say, “amen.”

October 29, 2015

Father, I pray for everyone reading, have read or will read this prayer. I pray that out of your abundance You will bless the out of the heavenly realm with manifested blessings in the earth, which will meet every need they have in their lives.

I pray that every promise from You, which has its “yes” and “amen” in Jesus, will be pour out on them until the blessings overflow from them to the people who know them.

I pray that no weapon formed against them shall prosper and every tongue that rises up against them will be shown to be in the wrong. For this is their vindication through Your Son, Jesus Christ, for Your children.

I pray they will experience every good and perfect gift that comes from above and that they experience them in abundance. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
